In the medical device industry, branding plays a key role in both recognition and trust. Device manufacturers are increasingly using illuminated logos and brand-specific lighting to differentiate their products in crowded markets. Beyond functionality, consistent color and design elements across devices and supporting media reinforce brand identity. Achieving reliable LED color-matching to Pantone or hex standards is critical, as customers expect devices to reflect the same brand colors seen in packaging, digital assets, and marketing materials. Customer Challenge

The customer required two distinct but related design elements:

 1.  A custom illuminated logo in the shape of their brand mark, with a uniform glow, considering the available power budget after the unit’s primary functions.

2. A “Sign Line” LED strip with a uniquely branded blue, “Company Blue.” This strip would display uniform light reflected on the unit’s surface, requiring a complex output
     geometry and consistent color output, while avoiding voltage drop along the strip, which affects the output.

They only had a vector file for their logo and digital/Pantone specifications for their blue. Both elements had to be manufactured to premium standards consistent with high-end beauty and self-care products. The challenge was to turn abstract brand assets into functional, production-ready illuminated components that maintained color consistency across all applications.

Our Solution

For the illuminated logo, VCC converted the customer’s 2D vector file into a 3D model, then created prototypes and final production units. This included design-for-manufacturing (DFM) for both the polycarbonate lightpipe and the LED PCBA.

For the Sign Line, VCC engineered an LED solution that precisely matched the customer’s “Company Blue.” By adjusting the current and PWM control, the emitted light was tuned until the color matched exactly to the approved reference. The specification was recorded for repeatability, ensuring that every prototype and

production unit could reproduce the same shade. The process involved close collaboration between the customer’s engineering and marketing teams to satisfy both functional and brand expectations.

Results

The illuminated logo met the customer’s branding goals and premium quality requirements.

The “Company Blue” Sign Line was locked into a reproducible specification for ongoing production.
