In an ongoing effort to improve the design, HST wanted to implement a viable solution for permitting two different light intensities for the back lights of the vehicle. The LED’s were also required to provide a moisture-sealed lens, have the ability to withstand shock and vibration and be available for expedited shipment to meet development and production schedules. For many suppliers this would be a tall order to fill these special requirements with an off-the-shelf product.

The ScanStream DV8 Sniper-HD, featuring unique PulseGate Technology, was custom designed and fabricated to create super 8 and regular 8mm transfers that offer sharpness and clarity that can only come with frame by frame scanning in high definition.

MovieStuff has selected and implemented the VCC panel lens products into their latest system. The Bi-Color CNX “D” connector was selected for easy assembly to the front panel and multi function of a Bi-Color RED / Green LED. The traditional methods of soldering wires to the LED and then heat shrinking the insulator was time consuming and costly.

The CNX C Series requires no tools for assembly while providing a simple, fast press-fit connection to the panel lens. The CMS 322 RTP low-profile panel lens is designed to provide a means of protecting equipment from both drip or splash conditions. It meets IP 56/NEMA 4 requirements; providing a highly effective seal against water and dust. The use of the HMC 461 CTP lens with a 10mm VCC LED provides for optimal brightness and a wide viewing angle, which makes the lens easily viewed in a bright room. The lens and LED were combined with the CNX 460 LED cable assembly.

VCC’s solution functions as a status indicator for the patient who is being scanned. The patient is instructed to look at the indicator and not to move until the light is off. In Philips’ design stage, it was important to find a lens that was large enough for the patient to easily view, but it also needed to be aesthetic appealing. Henny Penny, the global leader in foodservice solutions, recently contacted VCC to help design an effective panel indicator for its series of deluxe fryer systems. Having a reliable indicator is extremely important when operating a fryer, as the indicator notifies the operator that a valve needs to be adjusted to cycle the oil. Not cycling fryer oil properly significantly increases the chance of a fryer fire.

The complete VCC solution included the VCC C-connector LED socket, a high-bright blue LED and the moisture-sealed CMS 322 BTP lens. A prerequisite for the lens was making sure it held up under normal working conditions, which in this case included frequent contact with high temperature oil splatter. This rugged lens design, coupled with the high-bright blue LED provide for the indicator to be easily seen from across the kitchen.

Disneyland Resort’s operations group recently chose VCC to replace costly incandescent lamps in the FASTPASS system. Park engineers selected our C connector with one of our powerful 5mm white LEDs (Mouser, CDI, Newark) which extends from a PC board up to the viewing panel. For driving the assembly, engineers decided on another VCC product, our power module. It converts AC current to usable DC current and has an extremely small footprint, which is unique given the alternatives currently in the marketplace.

Recently, VCC was introduced to AC Propulsion of San Dimas, CA. AC Propulsion supplies electric propulsion and battery technology for electric vehicles. Most notably, they have contracted with BMW to provide systems for the BMW MINI E electric vehicle. The AC Propulsion drive system includes a power electronics unit and AC-induction traction motor featuring proprietary and patented tzero™ technology to provide high performance, high efficiency, and rapid, convenient charging capabilities for electric vehicle applications. 

AC Propulsion designed-in a modified version of VCC’s CNX 440 threaded cable assembly  with a CMS 442 lens to be used as a warning indicator in the event the electric motor or battery unit overheat. What attracted them to the VCC product was its NEMA 4 rating for moisture, as well as VCC’s ability to customize it for the application.
