Locking Header Connectors

The VCC CNX V Series is a single or dual row, male pin header designed to provide a positive locking method of securing connectors to a printed circuit board.

It was developed to fill the gap between the low cost friction header and the more expensive positive locking header. To accomplish this, VCC took its existing friction header and redesigned the tab to incorporate a finger release lever with a detent resulting in a polarized positive locking header.

In addition to the “Click, it’s locked” feature, this unique lever prevents the header connector from being inserted in a reverse position. This fills the requirement of providing polarity protection. Removal of the commonly used standard ramp connector from the locking header is accomplished simply by inserting one’s fingertip between the connector and the header lever thus disengaging the lock, permitting the connector to be extracted.

The locking header is available in strips of 28 positions which can easily be cut to provide any pin arrangement or can be supplied in pre-cut segment combinations. It is available in both vertical and horizontal configurations.
